Hi folks. I know you like it when I blow up and rant and roll on all the stupid stuff I run in to in my life and travels. But this time, I want to ask some questions and get some feedback. I have a lot going on: speaking, television appearances, commercials, working on a couple of new books and more that you will find out about as things emerge. In fact, I have so much going on that I need your help on determining what to do next and how to go about it.
First, I have an appearance coming up on the Early Show in NYC. They want me to bring a couple of the show with me and have me do a financial makeover on air with the couple. If you live in the New York area and would like to be on the show and have me give you some concrete ideas for making your life better, then you need to write my assistant at feedback@larrywinget.com. This will happen in April so we don’t have much time. You will be helped and you will be helping all those who watch get a grip on their finances as well.
Second, I have received lots of email for more detailed help in many areas. I am thinking of creating a subscription service that is cheap ($99 a year or $10 per month) where you will recieve regular fifteen minute video and audio downloads as well as webinars from me on a variety of topics that would include direct contact where you can ask me questions. I would also create a chat room for discussions on the topic. The topics would be personal development topics as well as financial and business. Interested? This is stuff that the regular public wouldn’t get – only available to my subscribers. Let me know.
I am also considering doing a series of public seminars across the country. This is a tough undertaking. I could lose my ass if you don’t come to the seminars. It costs a lot to put them on and more to make them work. So I need to know if you are interested and what cities I should hit first. I will also need the help of my dedicated fans to get the word out. I will make these very affordable so anyone can attend so don’t think cost will prohibit you from attending. I just need butts in chairs to make it work.
Last, I have a real opportunity for those of you that live in Arizona. I am going to do a big FREE seminar in Phoenix in late May or early June. I am shooting a seminar to be aired later on PBS and I need a big, enthusiastic crowd. If you can come and are willing to help me fill an auditorium, I need to hear from you. Again, contact my assistant at feedback@larrywinget.com. Let me know how many people you can put in chairs. If you work for a company and want to bring a hundred people, that is great, just please let me know. This is an opportunity for you to hear what I charge private corporations big bucks to do. So a company can save major dollars if they decide to bring the whole company. And this is an opportunity for the individual who would never get a chance to attend one of my seminars to come see me live. I just need to know how many people to expect.
Okay, let me hear from you! Leave blog entries and write feedback@larrywinget.com
You can count me in for your subscription service! Also, if you every come to the Chicago area I’ll definitely be attending your seminar – and talk it up to everyone I know!
I love your books with your real world and “usable” advice/suggestions. I use your information when giving talks to my teen boys on living their lives with integrity – to be their word, be respectful, accept responsibility for their mistakes, and to work hard at becoming successful. My boys also love your quotes like, “Your Life is Your Own Damn Fault!” They get what the saying means and are beginning to live their lives by it.
Hi Larry!
I picked up one of your books and watched Your YouTube interviews and seminars and now I’m addictive to your stuff!
I’m going through some financial challenges and it’s really helped.
Making me see all my mistakes. And take responsibility for my actions.
All the above ideas are great!
I’m in Colorado Springs and I’m sure you would have a good turn out if you came to Colorado. Possibly Denver area bigger population there more money.
I would definitely go!
Take care and many thanks for all you do!
Sharon
Well, my butt would be in a chair if you did a seminar here in NY. How many butts I could bring along would probably depend on where it was, when it was, and how much it was.
Larry, as I read through your blog, the first thing I thought was “do a trial here in Phoenix!” 🙂 I can almost guarantee I’d come and I’d probably bring some friends. I’ll pass the word around as well! And I suggest you offer some great seats to the men and women out at Luke AFB.
Please come to Cincinnati, Larry!!! I would definitely be there!! Probably my husband and mom as well!!! Good luck on all your great new projects!!
I like the idea of the subscription service so that we can get more audio and video out of you as I think that could be valuable.
I don’t usually go to seminars like what you’ve describe as it’s more like visiting a lecture or sermon for me, and I’d rather digest information at my own pace elsewhere than in a stadium with thousands of other people.
Keep dreaming up more ways to make more millions…what do you need my opinion for?
Larry – my organization has hired you TWICE… and they still talk about you!(sadly, you’re now out of our budget range) – I’d fly to AZ to see you speak!! And I would also subscribe to your service.
I’ve fired up a new group in my organization for women (engineers and operators). We are in a male-dominated industry, STILL getting paid less wages for the same work… which means over time it takes us longer to achieve comparable retirement savings – never mind taking any time off for raising babies too. And if your a single mom.. forget about it! I’d like to see you put your talents to work on solutions for women.
Larry,
The subscription service sounds great, do it. I’ll contact your assistant for the AZ date because I’d love to come over for that. Now, as for a seminar, San Diego is close and would be a great place to start the tour don’t you think? How many seats do we need to fill to make that happen? No wait, I can read, I’ll contact your assistant………
Hi Larry,
I am seeing more and more kids that can’t do math. They can certainly add, subtract multiply and divide numbers (unless there is a dollar sign in front of them). I’ve met a number of teenagers who walk into a store with $100 buy a $50 pair of jeans that are 25% off an think they’ve SAVED money. They just don’t seem to understand that they just SPENT money!
If compound interest (both incoming and outgoing) was taught at the high school more people would save for retirement. If kids are taught their REAL income (after tax and work expenses are deducted) when they start their first job, perhaps they would be a little more reluctant to spend what they earn.
Start a program aimed at young people Larry. Old habits die hard so let’s make the old habits, GOOD habits.
Just my 2 cents.
Larry
My husband and I have bought everything you’ve ever sold, precisely because of your no-nonsense approach and refusal to accept whiny excuses. We tell everyone about you and would LOVE the opportunity to actively promote your subscription service.
If you do decide to launch it, please make sure you have an affiliate program with recurring monthly commissions. We work with most of the top internet marketers and we are all big fans of yours. I can definitely guarantee that Michel and I would be thrilled to promote anything you sell.
So, if you’re looking for feedback, my answer is WOOHOO! Go for it! 🙂
Sylvie Fortin
Jackie…… that book is in the works but will be a short while as I have another one to do first. But I may go ahead and do a video/audio program about raising kids to be smart soon.
thanks to the rest of you. I still want to hear from more of you though about all of this. Keep watching for some exciting new stuff.
L
Larry,
You are a SELL OUT. How can you sit here and gripe about people using their credit cards and financing purchases then go do a Hyundai commercial saying people can use the “savings” to get out of debt???? WAKE UP!!!! Financing a vehicle is ADDING MORE DEBT. You don’t “save” money financing a vehicle. You of all people should know that. You have lost all of my respect.
How can you hock a car lease as being a good idea. I lost a ton of respect for you and can’t help but think you’re a sell out.
Financial guru who preaches getting out of DEBT, thinks it’s a good plan to lease a vehicle and take the savings to pay off your credit cards. SERIOUSLY, what’s wrong with this picture!?!
I hope you were well compensated for the commercial, I see you losing a lot of support after that nonsense.
Hi Larry
I am in Boston Massachusetts area and would think besides NYC this would be a killer spot for you to come and do a seminar. I’d be there with quite a few people for sure!!
~Karen~
Larry you can count me in on the Az project.I can get people to come once a date is set.As far as the subscription service you can count me in on that as well.As a side note I would like to add that your book “Shut Up,Stop Whining & Get a life has done more for me in the last few weeks than all the other PD books I’ve read.I like your views and comments.”You’re Broke……. is next!
Thanks,Ken
Lar,
LOVE your books! If you’re gonna do seminars, I suggest doing it Seth Godin style, ie make people buy 5 copies of You’re Broke in order to attend the seminar. That way the books are given as gifts, and 4 more people read your book. The way Seth put it was “buy 5 books and hear me speak” as opposed to “hear me speak and get 5 books’. it was a great talk, too, and it came to $50. I don’t know if you could make enough money on it, but boy did Seth get an interested crowd!
On the membership site – great idea. Make sure you archive all the webinars/videos, so that the value of the site is the ability to review that stuff as you need it. That way, if someone really got alot out of one of your 15 minute videos, they could watch it every day for as long as they are subscribed. you could immediately populate the site by using/resurrecting older stuff that you can no longer easily monetize/sell. it would also be great to do interview type teleseminars with other people in the biz – kiyasaki comes to mind…
Good Luck! xoxoxo JohnOnSales
Larry,
Count me in on the subscription service.
We would love to have you down here in San Antonio Texas. Id even drive to Austin,Dallas, or Houston to see you.
I’m going to pass along your contact info to some folks at my work. I think your your seminar would be perfect for my company.
RA
If you’d come to Milwaukee, I’d be there. Wish I could force my team lead to go, I’m not certain if even you could get through to her.
One thing I am curious about is what’s your opinion on the Gallup Q12.
Randy
You want feedback? 🙂
One, when is Big Spender coming back? Or is it not? We love the show. We’ve never had that sort of spending addiction, but we use it as a reminder of what happens when your priorities are out of whack, and it scares us into being careful with our money. Five years ago, we had nothing – Literally, we had two cars (5 and 6 years old), a little bit in checking and nearly $55,000 in student loan and second mortgage debt (trying to avoid PMI). Our net worth was about $500. We’re at nearly 500 times that now, just 5 years later, and the home is now set to be paid off 8 years ahead of schedule (student loans and second mortgage are/will be paid off 10-20 years ahead of schedule).
Have we had to sacrifice? Sure, but our now 10 and 11 year old cars still run just fine (thank you, Ford).
Speaking of which, as much as I think your advice is spot-on, Larry, I wonder about your new Hyundai commercial. Should someone with credit card debt even be looking at a new car? I think not. If you need a car in that case, buy used.
I prefer the new local bank commercial. Guys leaving work – one goes off to his fancy BMW. The other pretends to go towards something expensive, then heads to his rust old Geo Metro hatchback and drives home where you see him greet his pregnant wife while the narrator talks about having more important things to save for.
Larry, the “webinar” idea is great! My husband and I watched Big Spender one Saturday morning and we’ve been addicted ever since. I hope there is another season!! While I admit, we don’t have your books or CD’s we would probably attend a seminar if you ever came to Michigan.
While your advice is wonderful and much needed it always seems to be targeted towards those who have a lot of nonsense debt like credit cards and fancy cars, but I often wonder does your advice change for those who don’t have that kind of debt? I am about to graduate with a professional degree and have amassed significant student loan debt. We’ve made a serious effort to keep that amount as low as possible – I’ve worked throughout school and my husband pays for everything he can. And we have a small mortgage payment. We save a lot for retirement (we are in our 20’s), put money into savings and have an emergancy cushion. Short of the obvious, spend less then we make, and paying as much as we can possibly afford (which we do) do you have any other advice for those who are already on the “right track”?
On another note, my husband has a tendency to go on similar rants as you and actually said the other night (in reference to some friends of ours who are in some serious financial problems) “I could be Larry Winget, give me a camera crew and I could go tell them how dumb they are being!” I never laughed so hard. While he does have great money management skills, I’d love to burst his bubble one of these days and show him that he’ll never be as good as you – I’d bring him to a seminar just to here you remind him that there always something more to be done!!
Hey Larry!
Got all the books, love your stuff.
I would do the subscription before I’d travel. There would have to be something at the seminar that couldn’t be done with video before I’d even consider traveling. Costs too much, wastes too much time UNLESS there is real value in making the trip. I don’t mind spending the bucks if I am certain within reason (no way to know everytime) I will bring something back I can really use, not just warm and fuzzies that evaporates when I get home. What I look for is nuts and bolts how to do stuff. Too many people I read and study talk too much in general terms and I can’t figure out how to apply the knowledge to my specific situation.
i’m a huge fan! Had it not been for your book, let me tell you, i would not have smartened up and well… got a life?
Unfortunatly i’m in Canada so i can’t see you, but i love the idea of your web service! i would love the idea and would share it with the people i know. i understand your busy, but i hope someday you come to Canada and i can see one of those amazing seminars i have only seen over the net. Keep it up!
Hey Larry,
I think you’re off base with this big spender show. Here’s what I think you should rant about. Loss of jobs in this country or I should say loss of economic opportunity for Americans and the screwing were taking from big business. Here’s an example. I work in construction administering the contract. I noticed one day that the steel for stairways is manufactured in China. The fabricator buys it from a distributor who bought it out of China and then the fabricator cuts it up and welds it into a stairway. This got me thinking. We send our raw materials to China, they make it into a product for further use, sell and ship it to us and we borrow 1 trillion dollars from them so we can buy the products from them. There’s where our next war will be by the way. As of this writing, it seems China has spys in the Pentagon.
Here’s another one. Bill Gates sits in front of Congress and complains he needs more H1-B visas to get qualified people to work for him. Excuse me but aren’t there about 80 million people in this country who can work? Gates needs about 1000 techies with advanced degrees. Out of those 80 million people don’t you think it’s at all probable that he can find the people he needs? He further goes on to say our country doesn’t produce these people. He just wants cheap labor that the H1-B visa allows him. Here’s what he can do. He’s the 3rd richest person in the world. Let him find and recruit and educate the talent he needs. It’s not Congress’s problem or ours. If he can’t get what he needs on his own, he doesn’t belong in his business.
So, it’s not the way we Amercians spend money. It’s the way coroprate America is ruining our democratic/capitilist system by seeking maximum profit rather than reasonable profit that benefits everyone. Look at gas prices. There’s no oil shortage. This planet is soaked in oil still. Venezuala is sitting on what’s believed to be 100 billion barrels. It’s just a little less quality and harder to get physically but why should oil companies go get it when they can sit on wells that produce meagerly? It’s because they can say the wells are producing meagerly and hence they have to charge more because of supply and demand. The real culprit is Wall Street. Oil and gasoline is being traded on the futures market and this is wrong. They’re running up the price artificially.
So, look at coroprate America as a subject to rant about. I believe in capitalism, but when I go pay $3.09 for a gallon of gas and go into the station’s convenince store to buy a candy bar and it’s size is 20% smaller but costs more than the candy bar before its size was reduced then I have a problem.
Here’s another. I go to that big discount furniture store IKEA. the wife and I buy 2 floor lamps and a trash bucket with a lid on it where you step on a pedal to open the lid and release the pedal and the lid closes. On this one the lid only closed half way. Onto the floor lamps. They have to be assembled as they are in three piece sections that screw together. No big deal. I went to Voke school AND college so I’m mechanically inclined and figure these things out. The first one has stripped threads right out of the box and can’t be assembled. Piece of crap number 2 from IKEA. The second one goes together fine. Start vacuuming next week and pick it up off the floor to move it and it comes apart. Total purchase from IKEA results in 100% defective merchandise. I try Home Depot to replace the floor lamp. Another damaged floor lamp out of the box that can’t be assembled!
Finally cell phones. Can you here me now? NO, DAMN IT! Shove that commercial because your cell phone service sucks. So my wife, mother and I get all three of us on one plan to economize. I end up with a credit of a few hundred dollars on my old account. I call them and ask for my money back and they tell me my wife has to request the refund because we have a new account which is in her name. Wait a minute – its my account with my money in it that I earned and payed out of my checking account – why is this so difficult? She calls and they tell her that I have to call for the refund because the money is in my old account. It’s starting to look like a dog chasing his tail. She’s pretty feisty and she steps on them by phone and finally I get the refund check.
Here’s what’s going on I think. American business is selling shoddy goods and service(s) and they bank on us not following through and getting our money back. I have a deep instinct that this is part of many business’s startegy and is making them substantial income.
So, change your attack. Look at business in America. I think you’d be outraged at what you discover.
Larry,
Seen you twice, bought your books (and even read them ) and love your simple way of speaking down to us so that we “get it”. I would go to any seminar you bring to town although I’m not sure I would pay for a subscription since I imagine that most everything you put in there will end up in a book or audio that I will buy.
We have offices in AZ so I will pass along the info about the free seminar and recommend as many go that can.
Keep doing what you do and I will join you in the heart hospital from all these Sonic cheeseburgers!
-Richard
Larry-
I think the ideas for the subscription service and the public seminars are excellent!
I live in the midwest and therefore have typically had to travel to find what I consider to be ‘top-tier’ subject matter experts or seminars to help me succeed with either my small business or my personal goals.
Rob
Come to LA. I’ll bring my butt and ears to learn from ya.
Larry:
I agree with Frank. Corporate greed is what is wrong with this country. This results in us being inundated with marketing begging us to spend, spend, spend whether we have the money or not. We become so mired in debt and demoralized trying to pay everything off, we can’t even see what’s happening to us. This is a vicious cyle that is making these corporate CEO’s and their cronies millions! I’m not saying people are not responsible, they are. I personally am on a cash only basis because I got tired of the banks feeding off of those of us on the lower economic scale. My father was the president of a small community bank. He did all he could to help people and “teach them to fish”. Those banks are being taken over by corporate banking and are almost non-existent now. The mindset is totally different. Financial greed and exploitation instead of a helping hand and a way out. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU TAKE ON CORPORATE AMERICA!!! This is capitalism run amok!! We need someone on our side to take on corporate greed and give us back a fighting chance in this country.
RE: the previous message by “Frank”….
Go get ‘im, Larry…. Some of what “Frank” gripes about is reasonable. But some of it????? 100 Billion barrels of oil? That’s 3 years supply for the world but will take how many decades to extract? Then what?
The people Larry is trying to help are often there of their own fault. Overspending is not the fault of corporate america. They may tell you that you “need” their junk, but you don’t have to buy it. No one is holding a gun to your head.
As for junk from Ikea, take it back, complain, get your money back. Then buy quality. Sometimes it costs more. Who would have thought?
Hi Larry,
Aren’t I lucky that I live in Scottsdale, AZ. I will definitely attend your Phoenix seminar and I will bring along as many people as I can! Can’t wait to see you speak in person!
Thanks
Fiona
Yeah, corporate sucks and everything, but for the most part, people put themselves into their own financial disasters. People are not taking responsibility for their own actions. Only you can save yourself!
If you do a seminar, you can teleconference in our Stayer Center for Technology and Executive Learning in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. It’s a 250 seat auditorium where you can be doing the live seminar in one state and teleconference live to Wisconsin. We’re about an hour from Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay – the center of the state’s population.
On the subscription service, I’d sign up!
Go back to Boston Avenue and speak to the remainder of the Pilgrimage Class?
This prpbably doesn’t help you, but should be good for a laugh.
Frank, Rob, Jennifer… How about some Economics 101. IT’S ABOUT TO GET UGLY… Wall Street and Corporations are not to blame. If you become “mired in debt” IT’S YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT…right Larry? So is your success! So let’s say you are successful -and your little “BUSINESS” turns into a big MULTI-NATIONAL and hires thousands and thousands of people and is responsible to thousands and thousands of shareholders… don’t you want to keep being successful?? Get a clue and welcome to America. Last time I checked Communisim wasn’t working so well. But, if you all prefer, we can all have the same job, make the same wage, live in the same house, drive the same car. You guys go ahead – I’m going for the brass ring and I’m not blaming anyone for my lot in life. I am where I am because of the decisions I’ve made…and MY SUCCESS IS MY OWN DAMN FAULT!
Time to weigh in. Corporate greed is not the problem folks. Businesses exist for ONE reason: to be profitable. Where do you draw the line between profitability and greed? In your own life, if I put a cap on your income regardless of how hard you worked, would you like it? No. You would want to be rewarded for being smart and working hard. Corporations are no different.
The oil companies are profitable. Good for them. The problem is that the government is subsidizing oil companies. Why subsidize ANY corporation? I am against ALL government corporate bailouts. Airlines included. Auto companies too.
It isn’t fair to say that companies are greedy just because they are extremely profitable. As an individual, I am profitable. Am I greedy? No. I work hard for my money. I invest. I save. I’m smart when it comes to earning and spending. I should enjoy the rewards of all of that. As should any business. As should you.
Your mistakes ARE your fault. Your successes are also your fault. Profitability is the result of choices – so is debt.
Let’s always put the blame where it belongs – in the mirror.
I am not going to get in a philosophical discussion of economy – the government – big business – corporate greed – Enron and the rest. That is NOT my specialty. I talk to people about personal debt. My opinion: too much of the wrong kind of debt is a bad thing.
Thanks!
L
I completely agree Larry. I am getting tired of everyone’s excuses (including my own) and believe that you are right on with everything. I am so inspired and can’t wait to attend your seminar in Phoenix in May/June! –Bringing as many people as I can get. I’m feeling a bit frustrated though because I’m starting dental school in July so just when I am so ready to get real with myself and start saving mad, I will be going deeper into debt with all of the school loans. Probably just another excuse but I really don’t think I’ll be able to get pay off much of anything until I graduate. Any ideas?? Anything I can do until then? Thanks so much Larry for all that you do!! Oh, and I would be all about your subscription service!
I don’t mind companies making big money, but NOT at the expense of people and the well being of people. When companies cut back on health insurance, when companies stop offering pensions, when companies put money before people…THAT Is GREED. How is it that back in the 60’s a plumber or a phone installer without a college degree could make enough money to buy a house, car and support a wife and kids but now, 2 jobs can barely get you that!?
GREED. Big companies don’t give a damn about the well being of their workers anymore.
Can we get back to the subject at hand? Larry’s thoughts on “to greed or not to greed” with regard to large corporations aren’t the issue here. It’s not what he does. His job is to show individuals what they are doing wrong in their own financial lives, and how to fix it. He shows you how you dug the hole you’re in, how not to dig it deeper and how to dig out of it. While he may choose to rant on this blog about stuff that annoys him in other areas of life/economics etc., his seminars, books, appearances etc. are about personal finance and debt, and that’s what this thread was started to talk about.
I’m sorry if I sound like a paid shill (if only), but this wasn’t started as a general rant thread, but somehow it’s devolved into one and lost its original focus. He asked how he could best reach people with his message and assistance, and instead we’re raging about corporate greed. There have been and will be other threads for that subject. Can we please let this one serve its intended purpose?
Larry
I find myself referring to some quotes from your books a few times a week at my job. I don’t think I would be able to deal with some of the the stupid, lazy, backstabbing co-goers if it werent for your words of wisdom.
Thank you for helping me get through my day and for assisting me in securing my job the only way an employee can- by working.
Mike in Ft. Lee N.J.
I like your show Larry but I believe Dave Ramsey may have a lock on the live events. I also gotta say, I lost some respect when I saw the Hyundai commerical Dave would not sell out. I know you got paid, but car payments are a quick way to tie a financial noose around your neck.
Tom – no one has a “lock” on anything. I appreciate your comments tho. However, I do very little financial stuff. I am a business/personal development guy. That is what my live seminar would cover: business and personal development. My financial advice is a spin off of that. As far as being a sell out: Not really. Did you hear what I said in the commercial? “Take the money you save and pay down your credit card debt.” That is good, sound, solid advice. I didn’t tell anyone to go buy a car – but if you are going to, zero percent financing is the way to go. As far as Dave selling out and you comparing me to him: You have no idea what Dave would do in the same situation – you can’t really speak for him. And I don’t compare myself to Dave and no one else should make the comparison either. I don’t do what he does. He doesn’t do what I do. Again: I am guy that dishes out good ol’ common sense in areas of life, business and money. Period. Thanks again.
By the way – more commercials to follow – so keep watching me “sell out!”
I have to ask what sense does it makes to add 15 – 30k of debt and only pay down 1- 3k in credit card debt, granted you may not have stated purchase a new car but I guarantee Hyundai hired you for your financial presence. I do know what Dave would say, don’t buy a new a car only millionaire’s can afford to take the hit on deprecation, and if you current total of your cars equals up to more then half of your yearly income, sell the Tahoe and pay cash for a used car. And take the old car payment and put it on your CC debt.
You guys are really missing the point of these commercials. The people in them are *already buying a car.* And they’re being advised by financial experts (like Larry and Adam Smith) to not waste the “cash back” they get on frivolous crap, but to put it to work for them. Spend/invest it wisely. Pay your debts, make an extra payment on your mortgage, put it in a college fund for your kids. Don’t use it for vacations and other unnecessary luxuries. USE COMMON SENSE and make your money work for you. That’s the point.
Hey Larry,
I hope Detroit is on your tour schedule if you hit the road. We need you here – this place is a mess!! So many people are in debt and our horrible economy (both state and national) is not helping matters. Come to Detroit and I’ll do my part to round up the butts for the seats!!!! Mine will be one of ’em!
Larry,
Please put Charlotte, NC on your tour schedule.
I saw you Orlando a couple of years ago…FANTASTIC! I turned my boss onto your book “It’s Called Work For a Reason”…he keeps a copy proudly displayed on his desk. I’m sure we could fill an auditorium with folks from Bank of America, Wachivia, etc.
Thanks for all that you do!
Valerie
Larry,
I live in Phoenix and the opportunity to see you live would be a no-brainer.
The subscription service would be an excellent resource while we are waiting for your new material.
As for new topics, I’ve always believed someone with your no-nonsense approach could get people off their butts and become better citizens by participating in community improvement and local government.
Say the word if there is anything I can do to help.
Steve
Hi Larry,
I live in Boston and you can guarantee that my butt will be in a seat if you speak here. Come up and see us sometime!
And I concur with Steve Brown in post #45 about community improvement. The U.S. would be a much better place if people were more concerned about the world around them instead focusing on having bigger TVs/SUVs/homes/silicone breasts than other folks. I’d love to hear your perspective about this.
Maria: Larry’s already ranted plenty about this recently. Scroll through the blogs. 🙂
Laurie,
I did go back and read Larry’s opinion on voting, but I was suggesting something with more depth. It takes more than a solid voting record to be a good citizen. There are civic organizations, local government, chambers of commerce, and even the initiative to pick up trash or not to litter in the first place. Citizenship means obeying the law, even when no one is watching, and dozens of other efforts. We are not here to keep things the same but to make them better. I hope this explains my suggestion and I’ll step off the soapbox.
Larry,
What if you did the seminar ala Tony Robbins or John Maxwell where you are in one place and then have them televised across the country at churches or organizations of some sort The people who are at the live seminar pay one price and the people at the live teleconference pay less but still get that live audience experience because of some sort of communication thing. As for webinars and a private subscription everyone and his brother are having them and the couple I have signed up for were not worth it. The one I still susbscribe to has a live chat with the owner once every two weeks for us to ask questions then has bulletin boards and a library so we can interact in between. We all help wiht the input to help each other apply the lessons in between the chats. Eavch 12 weeks it has a new group sign up so you always have people coming and going so you are able to talk about where your at during diferrent parts of thier journey. I have found it is a great way of learning new skills that have changed my life..
I would definitely show up if you have a free seminar in the Orland Park, IL or Tinley Park, IL area (don’t think I’d be able to get into the city {Chicago} if you needed to hold it there, though, as I’m a single, working mom and once I’m home from downtown I really don’t want to go back)!!!! I am EAGERLY awaiting a Larry Winget Event though!!! I wish I could promise to be “IN” on your $100 / year private site; but I just quit the health club and dropped a few other things out of my life; so, I can’t really afford to actually SPEND anything right now. BUT, I WOULD LOVE TO COME AND GET MORE ADVICE IN PERSON!!!! 🙂
