Sorry for the delay in writing a new rant. I just closed the deal on my next book and have a short deadline so I am pounding away at the computer every free minute! The new book will be called: People Are Idiots and I Can Prove It! I think you will like this one if you have liked my other stuff. And if you didn’t like my other stuff, then I promise you will HATE this one. While this title appears to be my most obnoxious (and it probably is) I can assure you that this book has more “how-to” meat in it than any other book I have written. I like this book and can’t wait to get the rest of my ideas down on paper. So when you add the writing to the fact that I have been speaking all over the country a lot ——- plus I am in the midst of shooting 3 new Hyundai commercials plus an interactive internet campaign and some radio ——— plus I am releasing a new series on Customer Service as part of the Masterminds of Business Series (more on that soon) ——– plus I am trying to eek out a small time for a life ——- that hasn’t left much time for any rants! Hang in with me – I have some rants building and will be posting plenty soon! By the way, the PBS special is booked and it will be shot in Phoenix on July 19th. More information about time and location will be announced soon. I fought for a BIG event location which is not something that PBS normally does – but then again, I’m not what they normally do either! But that means that there should be plenty enough seats for anyone who wants to attend. There is no admission like I would normally charge since I am shooting the TV special. The theme will be based on my last book, You’re Broke Because You Want To Be and the shooting will last about two hours. I’ll stay and take questions from the crowd and sign books, etc. for all those who attend. So if you can come, we would love to have you there! Larry
Author: Larry Winget
Larry Winget is the best branded, most recognizable speaker in the business. Many speakers claim to be original, but Larry Winget is THE original. He has established himself as an icon in the world of personal development and self-help. You won’t find many people who don’t know or who won’t recognize him as a result of his six national bestsellers, his thousands of on-stage appearances or his many regular television appearances.
Larry, good to hear from you!
I think we all figured when we hadn’t heard from you in awhile that you had all your irons in the fire and several plates spinning. Looking forward to all the new projects and get us the info on time, place and who to call for our reservations for the Phoenix gig!
hahaha, you can’t get rid of us THAT easily, Larry. Waiting patiently for new rants and new book.
“People Are Idiots and I Can Prove It!”
OMG! I recently bought your book titled ” How To Write A Book One Page At A Time” because I’m writing a book aimed at an industry specific group for the same reason! It was basically named the same with the exception of one different word! Guess I’ll rename it,but it will still carry the same message! I friggin’ tired of dealing with IDIOTS in my industry. Everybody I’ve talked to told me since I read so much about how people act I should write my own,so I am.
Thank’s for your inspiration Larry!!!
Ken
Larry,
If you only wanted to prove that people were idiots all you had to write was a couple of sentences. Like go to the nearest mall and observe people for an hour or two. Or drive in rush hour traffic in a large city and watch how people risk their lives to get two car lenghts ahead. Or observe how much money they spend on their outer appearance and how little the spend on improving themselves. Of course this list could go on and on.
So you do not need to prove that most of us have our priorities all wrong or our values and core beliefs are all messed up. As our founding fathers would have said, that is self-evident.
But I do look forward to your next book and always enjoy the straight forward, no holds barred messages.
Larry – love your stuff. Recommend it to my newbie clients all the time. I put July 19th on the calendar. Hopefully they’ll put you at Gammage (Arizona State hosts PBS on campus) which is close to my office.
I was wondering if you can write a rant on the Rich Dad/Poor Dad series and/or writer. The Tempe Chamber of Commerce is having him and his wife in to do speeches, and I find him to be a complete fraud and opportunist. Of course, being an opportunist is good business, but getting there through mistruths and misrepresentations isn’t. I’m sure that you’re familiar with the cult of personality (considering you have one of your own), but he is using his to rip people off.
Anyway, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Larry,
I know you can only give out the information when it is finalized but we are waiting in SUCH anticipation. I am going to book my flight from Boston (I have a figure that I cannot go over for airfare :)) the second I find out how to get tickets and know I can secure them. Please let us know the second you can! I am so excited and hope I can make it out!
Keep rocking!
#5 AaronB, I agree with you, even if some might not think it is politic to say so on this blog. I read the supposedly co-authored book with Donald Trump, and it was full of hot air, too. But actually much better written than the original Rich Dad, Poor Dad, whose prose was execrable. A recent reference in an issue of Publishers Weekly made me realize: of course, ghost writers are involved.
Anybody who goes around saying they have a foolproof way for you to get rich if you’ll just buy their book is selling dreams, not a method. Larry, I’m not including you in this bunch because you’re open about what you’re doing and why. And you’re not claiming that we can all have mansions and boats and hot cars if we just buy your product. But the others are mostly selling snake oil.
I’ll look for the PBS show.
Larry
We all are in need of some serious inspiration especially the younger group.
With all the double talk we hear from our want to be leaders it is important to have a voice of the people out there. Looking forward to seeing you live in Phoenix already bought the plane tickets.
Larry,
When I first read this latest rant, I was thinking about writing down a good “People are idiots” moment. Then I decided to wait and see how long it would take before I encountered a real “idiot” moment. It took one day.
I was jogging through my neighborhood and there was a young lady with a small dog sitting on her porch. Of course she watched me run in her direction, her dog lept off the porch and gave chase. The dog was no real threat so I stopped so the dog wouldn’t follow me. The lady didn’t even get up.
The dog barked and barked, she left her fat ass on the porch, so I started running. The dog followed me 3 houses down the block, nipped my ankle, I turned and yelled at the dog and she finalled came out in the street. I told her I would be running past her house several more times and if the dog bit me again, we would have an issue. She left in a huff and went inside.
What an idiot!
Jim
Good afternoon:
I read one of your books(“You’re Broke because you Want to BE”) and it was a very good one. But you never mentioned in your book, your past life….what did it take for you to become a great Speaker? In other words, what kind of places did you start MOtivating speaking when you first started–was it church, companies, libraries, or where?? I am just curious.
I hope to hear from you very soon….. Thanks alot.
Hi Larry,
Just finished your book, ‘It’s call WORK for a reason’ and getting your other book ‘You’re Broke because you want to be’ soon. I LOVE IT! I LOVE your NO BS approach. It’s honest brutal and straight to the point. It really made me sit up and do some serious thinking and serious working. Best motivational book ever. Looking forward to your newest book.
P/S: I like that you quoted Bill Maher. Another no BS kind of guy and his famous rants.
LARRY YOU RULE!!
